Transcapes, Artificial Nature 1
Digitally mediated environments
UTS Gallery, Sydney
31 October - 23 November
Curated by Steve Hatzelis 2006
Artificial Nature 1 concerns the use of digital technologies as creative tools for rethinking art. The current (second) phase of digital thinking has been referred to as 'Post Digital'. Artists, engineers, designers and architects are extending their creativity through the fusion of their minds with the generative potential of digital technologies. Artificial Nature 1 is coordinated by the Centre for Digital Design, a research centre focusing on the study and development of dynamic immersive information systems and the creative use of digital media. An accompanying symposium on the subject of digitally mediated environments will highlight recent trends in digital design, art and architecture.

Petites Machines à Habiter
CAUE Sarthe, Le Mans, France

454 projects for an olympic landmark 2012
International Architecture Competition for the Olympic Landmark in Paris
Pavillon de l’Arsenal, Paris
454 projects from over 80 countries for the realisation of the Olympic Landmark in Paris.
A remarkable temporary building is intended to mark the Batignolles location to showcase its Olympian future and reveal its urban potential through a visual landmark at the heart of a location chosen by Paris 2012. The Olympic Landmark will be open to the public at the beginning of 2005 and will host an exhibition centre to introduce Paris 2012 to Parisians and to all visitors.
To meet this challenge, Paris 2010 launched an international architecture competition and mandated the Pavillon de l'Arsenal to act as assistant project manager for the holding of this competition. Open to designers from around the world, anonymous and single phased, this international architecture competition was held entirely on the Web, from on-line registrations, starting June 1, 2004 to submissions for projects on September 6, 2004.
